Get To Know Me

Hi there! I'm Jerika- a full-spectrum doula (pregnancy, birth, and postpartum), educator, placenta encapsulator, and student midwife. Outside of birth and postpartum things, I love to travel, eat delicious food (and try to learn how to make it myself!), bartend occasionally, and tend to my garden.
My journey to birth work began in January 2020. I started learning as much as I could about birth as a doula and shortly after became a student to several local homebirth midwives. As a student midwife, I was on-call for 2.5 years and obsessed with birth! I am currently taking time away from on-call life and hitting pause on my midwifery journey. As I continue to do some more traveling over the next year or so, I will remain off-call (I will not be attending births as a doula either), but I am there for you every step of the way before and after your birth (a great option for those wanting support, but not wanting a doula at their birth).
My Birth Philosophy
I believe birth is a normal, natural, sacred process that deserves to be respected, honored, and supported with care that's evidence-based, holistic, and compassionate. I also believe everyone and every birth deserves to be empowering, not just unmedicated “natural” births- whether it’s a scheduled cesarean, an epidural birth, or an induction! Everyone deserves trauma-informed care that honors their unique needs and circumstances.
As you navigate this chapter of your life, ask yourself,
"what are my birth and parenting philosophies?"
