Frequently Asked Questions
Most families come to me because they’re overwhelmed by information, unsure how to advocate for themselves, or worried about feeling alone or unheard in pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.
As your doula, I’m your steady, experienced support system from pregnancy through the fourth trimester. I provide:
• Physical comfort for labor (positioning, touch, relaxation, breathing, soothing techniques)
• Emotional support when things feel intense or uncertain
• Clear, evidence-based guidance so you understand your options—not what you “should” do
• Partner coaching so both of you feel connected and confident instead of scared or unsure
• Continuity of care that most Knoxville medical practices simply don’t have time for
My role is to help you feel seen, heard, respected, and supported in any birth setting—hospital, birth center, or homebirth.
And yes… the research backs it up: families with doulas experience lower cesarean rates, fewer interventions, more satisfaction, and better emotional outcomes.

You are not alone—this is one of the biggest and most understandable concerns.
Support is often left off registries in favor of “things,” even though research and lived experience show that support has a bigger impact on recovery, mental health, and family well-being.
That’s why I partner with BeHerVillage—a registry platform that allows friends and family to contribute toward:
• Postpartum doula support
• Childbirth education
• Lactation and recovery services
Many families are surprised by how willing loved ones are to fund meaningful support when given the option. A BeHerVillage registry allows your community to invest in support—not just stuff—during one of the most important transitions of your life.
I’m also happy to help you:
• Decide what level of support would be most impactful
• Combine services strategically
• Explore payment plans or class + support bundles
Not at this time.
But—I never want finances to be the thing standing between you and the support you deserve.
I offer:
• Flexible, interest-free payment plans
• Partnership with BeHerVillage, where friends and family can contribute directly to your doula support
• Packages at multiple levels so you can choose what fits your needs and budget
Most families tell me the emotional ease, preparation, and confidence they gain is priceless—and far more supportive than anything their insurance has ever covered.
Earlier than most people think.
Postpartum doulas often book months in advance, especially for daytime and overnight care. Classes also tend to fill quickly—particularly for families expecting during busy seasons.
Ideally:
• Postpartum care is booked in the second trimester
• Classes are taken in the late second or early third trimester
• Planning sessions happen before you feel rushed or overwhelmed
Planning ahead gives you more options—and more peace of mind.
Never.
Your partner is the heart of your support team—I simply make sure they never feel lost, helpless, or unsure of what to do.
I help your partner:
• Know how to support you in the moment without guessing
• Feel equipped instead of overwhelmed
• Stay emotionally regulated, present, and involved
• Understand what’s happening and what choices may come up
Most partners say, “I couldn’t have shown up this way without you.”
My job is not to step in—it's to strengthen the bond and teamwork between you.Not at all—your partner plays a vital role, and I’m here to support both of you. I guide, reassure, and offer tools so your partner can be fully present without feeling overwhelmed.
Daisy Doula Services focuses on proactive preparation, not reactive support.
My work blends:
• Evidence-based education
• Holistic and midwifery-informed care
• Trauma-informed and nervous-system-aware support
• Realistic postpartum planning that actually works in modern life
I specialize in helping families think through the invisible parts of pregnancy and postpartum—mental load, recovery, communication, boundaries, and support systems—so they don’t feel blindsided later.
Short answer: for many families, yes—because it changes the entire fourth trimester.
Postpartum doulas don’t just “help with the baby.”
We support:
• Physical recovery and rest
• Feeding (breast, bottle, combo, without judgment)
• Emotional processing and mental health awareness
• Partner communication and division of labor
• Preventing burnout before it starts
Many families tell me they wish they had invested in support before they were exhausted and overwhelmed. Postpartum support is often the difference between surviving and actually feeling held during those early weeks.
Yes—fully and without agenda.
I support:
• Vaginal, cesarean, induced, and medicated births
• Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, combo feeding, and formula feeding
• Families who want a physiologic approach and those navigating medical needs
My role is not to push a specific outcome, but to help you:
• Understand your options
• Feel confident in your decisions
• Feel respected and supported throughout the process
All families deserve care that is informed, compassionate, and non-judgmental.
No—and here’s why:
Childbirth education teaches you the “what” and “why.”
A doula supports you through the “how” and “what now?”
Think of classes as your study guide, and a doula as the person who helps you stay calm, grounded, and prepared during the test.
If you want both, I offer holistic, physiology-centered childbirth, postpartum, and newborn classes—privately or in small groups—in Knoxville or virtually.
My Signature Package includes: Prenatal Education + Planning (Pregnancy, Birth + Postpartum), Birth Doula Support, and Postpartum Doula Support so you have support throughout every stage of this transformational time in your life
Absolutely—yes, yes, and YES.
Doulas don’t support “natural birth.”
We support your birth.
Whether you’re preparing for an unmedicated birth, scheduling an induction, planning for an epidural, or wanting a calmer, more family-centered cesarean, you deserve support that meets you where you are.
I’ve supported:
• Hospital births with epidurals
• Inductions (Pitocin, cervical ripening, all variations)
• Planned and unplanned cesareans (c-sections)
• VBACs
• Out-of-hospital births
There is no one “right” way to give birth—just the way that feels safest and most aligned for you.
I don’t speak for you—because your voice matters.
What I do is help you stay centered in your values so your wishes don’t get lost in a fast-paced hospital environment.
I work alongside your OB, midwife, and nurses by:
• Helping you understand your options
• Supporting calm, informed conversations
• Keeping communication respectful and collaborative
• Helping you feel confident asking questions and making decisions
My goal is a birth room where you feel safe, respected, and in control.
You can explore:
• 🌿 Doula packages from pregnancy through the first year
